    Future Tune

Will there ever be a time when we can "remote tune" our cars? In this day of lightening fast internet connections it seems that we should be able to link into our PCM with a laptop connected to the internet and have Frost perform his magic from a distance. Schedule an appointment, provide your credit card info, and install or update a tune in the comfort of your own garage.

Is this possible or just a pipe dream?

That sure would be nice not to have the down time of your PCM being in the mail.

If you have HP Tuners, you can email your tune to frost & he can mod it, then email it back... Same with the data logs...

I do not have HP Tuners... Do the data logs contain all the relevant sensor output, like a/f and such?

Realy? That would work for me. Does he charge the same for that as a mail order tune?

You have to add the AF then plug it into the logger...

I do LOTS of tuning through email...

Minimally you will have HPTuners, optimally you will have HPTuner's Pro and a wideband for the best results.

For the $125 cost of mail order tuning, you get a file and 2 large updates. I charge $85/hr for further tuning. I work and type quickly. You get many updates in that hour. If you want this to be a bit of a learning experience and don't mind if some of the time goes toward typing, I can also detail each item of each revision, including why and how it was made. Most heads and cam cars can be tuned in about 3 hours in full speed density (full VE) and the MAF as well.

If you guys have any questions at all, shoot me a PM. Thanks!

Frost -- you should probably be sending me a bill for everything I have learned from you in the last six months on here. Thank you!

Frost tuned my TA via email. Worked great. I went SD.

I have HPT Pro and LC1 wideband. Its kinda what is needed to do this effectively.

Which wideband is the one to go with? Or, better yet, are there any that I should stay away from? I have been eyeing up an Autometer unit that would match our factory gauge color (appearances are important after all) - but I assume you need one that has an "output" line of sorts in order to interface with something like HP Tuners.

Most will have an output. It just wirng you tie into the HPT. I have the LC1, it seems to be doing fine so far. But, there are LOTS of reports of problems with them over heating. If I could do it again, I would go a different route with the WB. I cant remember all the names, im sure Steve can answer that question better then I can.
