Dumb Question inside!

Whats a wideband? I'm getting ready to put a full exaust on my TA with Pacesetter Lt's and y pipe and adjustable borla CB, I know i'll need a tune after it, if anyone got any pointers lemme know, I am somewhat mildly interested in learning tuning myself.

The factory O2 sensors are narroa band; they recognize that 14.7:1 AFR is 450mV, and the PCM simply keeps the AFR as near 14.7 as possible, however, the AFR is always bouncing above 14.7:1 and below 14.7:1. These narrow band O2 sensors are not accurate for WOT tuning where the AFR might be 12.8. This is where the Wide Band (WB) O2 sensors are used. They do cost alot more, therefore, most vehicle manufacturers use the narrow band. AFAIK, you can not simply replace a WB for the NB and have it work with the PCM.

Also, If you are installing headers and CB only, it is doubtful that you have to have the car tuned.

So I won't need a tune after getting headers, ORY and CB? I ordered the headers without egr/air so they may make a difference as well.

You will need a tune for the SES light that you will probably get because of the elimenation of EGR and AIR.
