    computer reset

    hi,i have had some codes come up that i believe that has been taken care of,but the ses light still returns from time to time,i have it checked at the local parts house & the light goes out for a while.is there a way to reset my computer to see if the problem has been taken care of?my car is a 98 trans am,ls1

    Have autozone reset them or pull your neg battery termainal off and let it sit for a bit and then reconnect, what codes was is throwing? If they keep coming back then the issue is probly still there.

    Codes Are-p1404 &p1870.the First Is Egr Pintle Stuck In Open Position,2nd Is Transmission Component Slippage.i Cleaned Egr & Put On New Screened Gasket,worked For A While,then Light Came Back On,had It Checked & It Showed The Egr Code Again,& The Tranny Code.dont Know If The Egr Code Was Still Stored In It,but Now After I Drive It A While It Starts Shifting Hard,if I Cut It Off,then When I Crank It Back Up It Works Right Again.the Light Went Off After I Had It Checked,but I Drove It A Few Days,& The Light Came Back On.i Dont No If It Is Just Showing The Stored Codes Or What.help!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    PCM Reset

    Turn key on, don't start car
    Pull PCM BATT and PCM IGN fuses in engine compartment
    Wait 5-10 min
    Turn ignition off
    Replace fuses

    This will clear all current and history codes, along with the readiness tests, stored idle, etc. Idle will be grumpy until it relearns.
