Compare rear 02 delete vs. sims

I just bought my 00' Z28 about 3weeks ago and the passenger side cat is loose and rattling bad. Ive looked at my options and I decided to cut out both cats and weld-in straight pipe in their place. When I do this, the rear 02's will freak so....

    1. Do I buy 02 sims for 39.99 a piece? need 2 of course.

    2. Take it to the dyno to have them tune them out?

    My questions are...

    1. Is there a difference in the long run between getting the sims or having them deleted?

    2. On average, what is the cost of having the rear 02's deleted?

I would like to go the cheaper route if everything else is equal.

    Thanks for your input guys.

I also would like to know? If you install headers without cats what is required. Will the car even run without replacing the O2 sensors?

If you install headers without cats your car will run fine. All the rear 02s do is tell the computer that your cats are working. It does not effect the tuning of the pcm. You can run your car forever with no cats but you will have an SES light the whole time. To remedy this, you can get Rear O2 Simulators or have them deleted with a tune.

If you're only tuning for rear O2 deletes, it'll prolly cost $100-150. If you were in need of a tune (most of our cars can REALLY benefit from a good tune) then it makes sense to pay for the tune and have the rear O2s yanked at the same time.

If you're not already doing a tune and ready to dole out a possible $300-500 for a good tune, then just go the sim route although over time I hear they need to be replaced to continue working @ fooling the computer as the elements eventually get the better of them.

I've decided to send my PCM to lsxtune to have it all done and get a basic tune. It will be the most cost effective and proper way to do things, and probably the least problematic.

I make simple changes like that for a few beers. Find someone with tuning software in your area.
