Can a 1998 PCM be tuned for a Turbo and Cam package?
Hello,
I am in the Market for a LS1 Firebird or Camaro. I plan on adding a Turbo to the car. I have EFI live. I keep coming across 1998 cars for sale and don't know if I should avoid them for their older PCM. I understand you cant do live tuning and see alot of people doing conversions to 99+ and dont want to do that. So my question is , does a 1998 PCM have enough tuning capability to tune a Turbo and cam package?

the short answer is yes. I own a 98 and have tuned a few 98's but if I was building a serious car I would use a 99+ due to the differences in the oil galley and rod bolts. That's not to say that the 98's can't be built because many have done it. I have 98k on mine with a heads/cam package and it runs as good now as it did when we bought it. I'm just saying if I was doing an all out build I would buy 99+ and if you really wanted to get serious it I would do an iron block 6L. Tuning wise though I'd do a 98 as quick as any of them.
