burping the gas tank

This is kind of a side bar to the po440 t=code thread. I haven't been able to get anywhere with the troubleshooting guide that posted, but for the second time so far i have had to relieve the pressure in my tank. I could be almost empty and when i go to fill up it shoot gas back out and i have to fish a line into it and then to explodes gas and ir back out. I am still throwing the evap system malfunction code but i was wondering if this has happened to anyone else. Could this identify my problem with the evap system? I've had to do it like every other time i fill up. Thanks

To resolve the problem you're going to have to follow the diagnostics in the gearchatter link that was posted, or bring it to the stealership.

It the evap surge solenoid on the drivers side of the intake. Mines been doing the same thing. Instead of fishing a line down in it, this is what I did/do.

The fuel line under the hood with the GREEN cap on it, take the cap off, loosen the schrader valve under it all the way and the fuel will drop in the tank letting you fill it up. Once its full just re-tighten the valve, put the cap back on and youre good to go.

is this detrimental to my power output or gas mileage. I would assume both, but i'll try and work on it before i go to the dealership. Anything else?
