    Thank you

Newbie here.....When I had a 1998 Z-28, I programmed the HPPIII for 6000 rpm. This setting seemed to be a good average setting. If the rpm noses over, you may be getting valve float (stock cam/springs)....lower the shift point in 100 rpm increments.

In the old BC days (before computers), us shade tree weekenders would shift gears so that the engine rpm would fall as close to the torque peak of the engine as possible. Sometimes, that meant shifting past max HP rpm. Each shift, 1st to 2nd, 2nd to 3rd, 3rd to 4th would require a different high rpm shift point because of the gearing in the tranny. Rear gearing also plays a part in all of this. Ideally, you want to cross the timing lights at maxium horsepower rpm. I haven't raced in years, so all this may have changed.......Thats my story and I'm sticking to it!

I have a question about doing the Rev limiter and shiftpoints for HHP3

I have a 99 TA A4, Corsa cutback, SLP lid, SLP cold induction, SLP MAF and SLP thermo 160. what do I set my shift points to?

    1. shift points
    I have used the max:
    1-2 +6mph
    2-3 +12mph
    3-4 +12mph

    2. rev limiter
I used the max 6600 rpm I believe. is it bad? I know the stock is set to 6200 I beliece, so should I reprogramm HPP3 to 5000-5500?

I don't know if it is good this way? What is the optimal configuration, anybody. please help

If your valve train is stock, set the rev limiter to 6200. Set shift points for 6100 rpm.

My '98 Z-28 had basically the same set up as your '99 TA...except I used a 180 degree themo.

Thanks man, I understand the max hp you get at 5500 rpm and you should be shifting 500 above that.. you mention set shift points for 6100 rpm. How do I do that in the HPP3? my options are:
    1-2 shift + or - 6mph
    2-3 shift + or - 12mph
    3-4 shift + or - 12 mph

I know 3-4 doesn't really matter since in a race 3rd gear will pretty much be enough.. but what should I my entry be for 1-2 and 2-3 settings in HPP3?
Thanks for the help guys...I am new to HPP3

On the dyno my A4 LS1 Z28 didn't start to level off on HP until just above 6,000 rpms, so I shift right at that rpm. I have played with the shift points and the best 1/4 mile times were at 5,900-6100 rpms depending on what gear. I shift at 6,000 rpms 1-2, 2-D at 6,050 rpms... Seen something earlier that said A4 cars trap higher and M6 cars lower mph, it is opposite, the M6 cars trap higher, where the A4 cars lower, the A4's tend to get better 60 foot times where the M6 cars make up the diference at the end of the track from better MPH. I am running mid 12's at 106mph, many other cars with a M6 are running 110 area with simular mods and same 1/4 mile time. I normally have the M6 cars beat to the 1/8th, then they gain at the end...

I just wrote to HyperTech, I have the same car as you...they said
    1. +3
    2. +6
    3. you can go as high as +8-9
but stretch out your RPMs at least +400...
