I had my trany reprogramed for crisper shifts. Also to eliminate slow roll turning up hill slip that the a4 is sometimes known for. Pros on mine where harder engagement when getting on it. Cons, seems the ASR is less effective and it spins anyway. Hope than helps. Good luck.

if you're still on the stock valvetrain I wouldn't recommend it but if you have aftermarket stuff in there go ahead and bump them up some.

I recently added a few mods. Small cam upgrade, typhoon intake, headers . The transmission was just upgraded to handle some serious horses. How high did you change the shift points?

Not sure if you're askin me but mine was reprogramed just for cleaner shifting points. Trany just reacts better less sluggish than the factory set up. Also holds gears better like a mild shift kit. Nothing crazy though.

Was making me crazy too. I only had 40,000 on the ticker when I noticed it. Peed me off to no end cause the car was still relatively new. But after explaining this condition to the tech who worked on it, he called me and explained it was a common thing and a simple reprog would make it shift a little more aggressively. Never had it come back either.

I should look into that. It seems to happen more going up hill and around corners. If I put it into D before I hit the canyon I'm usually OK. And, sometimes happens on flat land from a stop going around corners

    I've got 73K.

    What did it cost you?

At the time it was covered under my warranty. Cant be too bad though they just plug it in and change from their computer or scan tool. Hope that helps.
    Should correct yours too.

PS. I'm over 75,000 now still has'nt come back.

Hey KahanaReef. The main reason I even worried about it was I did'nt know if when it was catching if it was begining to hurt my trany. I did'nt want it to become permanent.
I baby the heck out of her and would lift as soon as I felt that spot in between gears. That feeling is what a dead automatic feels like when it's in gear but wont fully engage. If that makes any sense to ya. Just drove me up the wall when I drove it. Haveing it checked and programed gave some peace of mind back too.

I keep thinkin' of stuff. But you might look into haveing your trany flushed and fluid changed. They pump it out to clean out the converter too then put fresh fluid it the whole thing. Cause cant get the bad fluid out of the converter when dropping only the pan.

Yeah, pretty much know how that works. I'm sure it's about time to do it too.

I drove around in a 'slip and slide' power glide for a few years and it reminds me of that

I'll see about taking it in and having it done.

    Thanks.

Oh the old "slip slide power glide" two speed. My Dad had an old 65 f-85 Olds with that set up. Had the old Jetfire 330 small block. HAHA well small to Olds. Olds motors had that humungus intake and wide spead between the banks.LOL

by the time it was time to rebuild that tranny... it was alllll over the place! Quite the adventure just getting to work and back

Oh, and don't worry about finding out how much it would cost. Pretty sure it will be way higher out here I don't want to take it to the steelership. So, I need to find someone out here to take it to. But, thanks for the thought
