'01 T/A OBDII code reading help needed

My '01 T/A has a "Service Engine Soon" light on (although I think I found the issue - burnt taillight bulb). But, I bought an Actron CP9125 (most basic) scan tool - $20 at PartsAmerica.com. I connected it to the OBD port and the scanner never accepts that it's even plugged in to the car as per the manual. I checked the pins and all - all clean and straight. So my questions are:

    1. Do you have to do anything special to the T/A (besides turning the ignition to "Run") to activate the OBD port? (Like holding the odometer reset button while turning the key.)

    2. Anyone had experience with this scan tool?

    3. Any other suggestions?

    Thanks, Dave

Burnt bulb won't throw an SES light - not familiar with what scan tool your using either - but if it isn't getting any power to it check your "CIG/ACCY" fuse, it also powers the DLC. Try that first.

Hopefully that's it - was for me one time when my Predator wouldn't work. Post the code when you read it.

    make sure it's a OBD II scanner...if it's OBD I it won't work. And as stated above...light won't throw a code

edit: Just googled your scanner..it is OBDII...hmmmm, not sure why it's not working
