yes it is worth it. you're not going to gain rwhp but will gain acceleration instead. very noticeable.

i heard smaller gears (higher numerical value) make ur rear end safer than with larger gears like 2.73's

it's the other way around, 3:73 (higher numberical value) are thinner than stock 3:23 or 2:73 depending which ones you have. thinner gears take more of a beating by the driveshaft pushing into it. the lower the numerical value the thicker the gears and so it holds better.

I went from 3:23 stock to 3:73 on the stock bolt, and trashed that 3:73 gears in 2 months... I needed a bolt upgrade Moser or bolt 12... the 3:73 gears going from into the upgraded rearend bolt are still 3:73 but are made for a bigger bolt so more robust.

I don't recommend doing 3:73 gears without doing 12 bolt or Moser 9, Dana 60 or such... if you put the gears upgrade on stock rearend bolt it will take a shit pretty fast because of less metal (thinner) gears.

Thats what ATC didnt get.... The same ratio of gears can fit into the shitty ten bolt..... but they are a "smaller" weaker gear. Not as much meat to them. You can fit a much larger 3.73 gear in a 9" or 12 bolt..... Get it ATC?

    Your all motor?
Also drag radials or regular tires?
Yes they are weak 10 bolts but I have many customers cars that go low 11's all day with stock rearends and 3.73's or 3.91's.

It is worth the switch, 3.73's turn 500RPM higher than the 3.23's @ any given MPH, it will keep you in the power band under agressive throttle, and spool up quicker between the auto shifts.

go with the gears bro, i just threw some in mine and even with 275 falkens when she hits 2nd the ass gives some movin' and shaking. do it, do it now! she'll pull a lot harder too, especially with the stall in there.

blah, blah, blah with the whole 12 bolt and 9 inch rears, it's common sense that those have more nutts but we're talking apples and oranges here. the guys asking opinions on gears not rears. good gears with install around $600 and and new rear is going into the $2000 range big diff. enjoy the different stages of your car, go with the gears you'll notice a good pull with the swap. and then when the "shitty" 10 goes out get a new one. but my "shitty" 10 is smashin' ass!!!!!!!!!!!!!

gears and rearend are directly connected genius. why tell the guy to upgrade to 3:73 gears and have them trashed in 5 months at the track. I'd put in the rearend 12 or 9 bolt then upgrade the gears. I've seen numerous people break the stock bolt. etc...

I've seen people blow there motors up on 75 shots too......etc.
There is MANY stupid people out there!
Yeah I have watched idiots blow up there 10 bolts with there 13 second cars. And at the same time I'll have 3 cars in the staging lanes with 10 bolts going low 11.20's-11.40's ALL DAY.

yeah it's the draw of the luck with those things, and I guess how often and hard you track the car... but back to the subject, yeah upgrade your A4 car to 3:73 gears man!
