weak point of the 10 bolt?

what is the weak point that makes them go out so easily. My mechanic said the one that he put in my car when the original got messed because of a blowout wouldn't go out as easily as a stock one. he said something was made stronger in it. what could have been stronger in it to make it stand up to abuse better? and what are the weak point of the 10 bolt?

it can't be everything. that just wouldn't make sense. it could be multiple parts but still it couldn't be everything.

sorry man but i hate when people say 10 bolts are horrible and weak...it does the job...but i mean donuts are rough for any rear end..the 10 bolt is adequate for the f-body platform..

well I have an automatic and don't do stupid stuff in my car. I go to the drag strip every few weekends, but I don't do stupid stuff. the last time I did a donut was the day I bought the thing. I was just really happy and played a bit.

that was a good one. is there any reason why it wouldn't stand up to 400hp in an auto? I hit 355whp with a tune and I still need to do a couple things with it. and I have plans for some more in the near future.

10 bolts are a weird thing.. some people are running 10s on them.. and some blow on stock power.. I pounded the hell out of mine.. no probs.. but then did a shitload of donuts at year one.. went to the track a couple weeks later.. and on the first launch BANG!

** Edit** And when I said a shitload.. the end of this video is just a few seconds of what I did there.. lol..

forget that dang. I can't afford anything like that right now. I'll have to look into cheaper option. I bet I could find a used differential and find someone to set it up on my car and all cheaper than that. that's just crazy.
