Sorry I meant to say Auburn posi... yea they had the crappy clutch type posi...mine was going and had a 1 wheel peeler around corners, it would spin both going straight though...

All 98 V8 F-bodies had the Auburn cone posi as a standard option. All 99-2002 V8 F-bodies had the Zexel Torsen posi as a standard option

Find me proof of where "All 98 LS1 F-Bodies" had an Auburn differential. I am pretty damn sure my 98 Z28 did not have one. I even had it apart to do axles in it. Pretty sure it wasn't an auburn.

Its common knowledge. And the GM service manual describes it as the Auburn cone clutch limited slip in '98.
What posi did you have, an Eaton clutch pack style? Maybe someone swapped it out at some point before you owned it?

Car was bought brand new in early 98 by my Dad(Only 1 of few Z28's in Alabama when GM went on strike and they stopped delivery of cars lol). I even have all the original documents etc. for this car. No rear end was swapped. It had 2.73 gears, 2 series Carrier and a 3 channel rear end. I had the car for 4 years myself before some lady decided to total my Z28. My dad was the only other owner of the car. So I don't know on this one. I had always been under the impression that only the SS models that went to SLP had the Auburn diff. Maybe I'm wrong.

I had an auburn diff w/ 3.73's from a Firehawk that I blew up at the track in my SS and trust me, not the same posi as my Z28.

I did a little research and the only idea I have is that SLP upgraded to an Auburn Pro Series from the OEM Auburn High Performance Series. Not sure what the difference is...probably stiffer springs for a tighter posi.

Good to know, just weird. Didn't think I had an Auburn.

    20-23 mpg with 2.73s',is that mixed/combined city/freeway ?
    when I had 3.23s',I got 24.5 freeway,with the current 4.56s' I get 21.5 freeway.
2.73s' were rated about 30 freeway.

It's mixed. I haven't done any trips in it. I just replaced the transmission. So I think these numbers will rise.

slipping in 4th. I would have to drop it to 3rd on the highway. The rpms would go to 3000 or more in 4th. I had it cracked open for a look, and everything was just worm slap out. (156k on the odometer) So i found one with 45k on it and swapped it. Put a new filter, and rejoiced it. Runs like a champ now.

I'd get 25-27 with my 2.73s on the highway w/bolt-ons, stock converter.

Maybe it's a more drastic change for autos but when I put 4:11s in my six speed my MPGs didn't drop even one whole mile per gallon. About 2-4/10ths maybe.
