    2001 camaro SS

    tips for breaking in a new 9"

    I just had a 9" installed in my A4 LS1 SS with 3.89's and had a quick question as to how about I might go breaking it in. Are there any proper break in procedures for a 9 in?

    Could I take it to the track the night after it has been installed or is this too soon?

    I would recomend the same procedure as when breaking in any gears. Drive 15 minutes, Stop, wait at least an hour. Do that 3 times to heat Quench the gears. Then take it easy don't go over 60 mph for the first 500 miles and change your speed up. Then change your gear oil at 500 miles (I would suggest royal purple or red line 75w-90) then give her hell. Just my .02 worth, but do what ever the mfg recommends who you bought it from.

    +1 for that. Thats how I broke in my 12 bolt....and have had no problems at all....

    I'm having a new Moser 12 bolt rear end installed on Tuesday. That is exactly what the shop owner recommends.
