Thoughts on shift kits? B&M/Trans Go.
So I was thinking about adding a shift kit to my trans. My car has 65K on the clock and recently had the trans fluid and filter changed. The fluid wasn't in bad shape and there didn't appear to be metal shavings.
That being said, I was thinking about adding a shift kit. My local Speed shop carries the Trans Go kit as well as the B&M Trans Pack. Any difference between the two? My Camaro had been tuned for the gear change (3:73's) and had the shift point set accordingly. I'm thinking it probably wouldn't hurt to add a trans cooler as well.
Any thoughts or input would be greatly appreciated!

I have the trans go kit. I have nothing bad to say about it. Manual shift capability and harder shifts while driving.
I didn't do a trans cooler when it was installed and still haven't. Probably 15k since install without any problems. fluid still looks ok.

I don't really try to get the tires to spin. Kind of counterproductive imho.
It have done it on occasion for the enjoyment of others. 40 or 50 feet of spin isn't a problem.
The biggest improvement is how quick the transmission shifts. No more lag time. Floor it and it rows throught the gears. On the highway it helps with passing.

When installed we pulled the trans anyway to inspect it for wear.
If I remember correctly the instructions provided a way to install the kit in the car.

Trans-Go is your best choice. They do offer different kits too. Some have more parts & options. Yes you can do it in the driveway on jack stands. Just take your time & follow the instructions!
Don't be afraid of the bottle!!! Be afraid of your tune!!!

The kit is not worth it if you are running the stock converter.
If you want to spin the tires, install a 3600 stall, then the shift kit. You can also inhance the modification by installing a race grade 2-4 servo.
