T56 Installation Problem
I'm in the middle of reinstalling my T56 back into my car after rebuilding it and replacing the clutch, and I'm having an issue that I can't figure out.
I can lift the trans up and into the clutch splines and slide it in, but when the trans is about 1/2" from the bellhousing, it just stops and won't go in any more. I've tried taking in and out about 5 times, I've tries grinding the alignment dowels to a taper on the edge, I just don't know whats holding it from going all the way in.
Is it possible that the pilot bearing isn't in far enough?? I installed it flush with the crank, do LS motors need the pilot recessed further into the crank for some reason??
Help is much appreciated!!1998 Trans Am WS6 SGM
