, only bad thing is that may not work as the sound is not consistent. or you can do the WD40 thing when it happens...lol. and spray all accessory pulleys with it.

How hard do you beat on the car? I mean do you drive her pretty hard most of the time or just sometimes?

It could be a pulley bearing. On my dads car it made a terrible sound when the pulley bearing went bad in the tensioner.

I get on her pretty good but don't beat the fuck out of her. It doesn't seem that is where the noise is coming from, i am going to experiment with a peice of pipe next time to see where it's coming from...

Yea it never did it until after i changed the oil, i used 10-30 Castrol GTX. I only put 1500 miles on it before i changed the oil though so I don't know if thats it. Should i stay away from the Castrol and use Mobile 1 or another kind of oil/weight?

If i do the WD-40 thing, when i'm done i can just wipe off the excess and it will be ok? my motor is pretty clean and i don't want WD all over the place I will do it if you think it will help...Thanks for all the responses guys.

The problem is that it has only happened 4 times now, after i drive for a while and let the motor cool down for a few hours the noise occurs upon startup. But not all the time. Then the noise goes away when the motor warms up, so it's almost impossible to catch it at the time it makes the sound then hurry up and take off the belt. Because i will probably be going somewhere or i am already somewhere away from my tools....

    no problem.

I always make it a point to make sure i have a 10, 11,12,13,14,15 mm wrench set in the car in a foldable pouch kept in the spare tire well with the Nitrous bottle.... just in case something happens....
