    Steel Driveshaft in a 98 Formula????

    I was under the impression that all 98 to 02 LS1 Fbodies had an aluminum driveshaft. Mine has a steel driveshaft instead. were there certain models that came with the steel or was mine installed afterward. It's a 98 Formula M6. The car was built decently when I bought it so I'm wondering if a previous owner swapped it for the steel thinking it'd be stronger.

    supposedly if your car came geared with 2.73's you got a steel ds. Otherwise they were alum.
    I have an 02 that originally had 2.73's but definitely has an alum ds so go figure.

    I've heard that but mines an m6 with 3.42's and i've got the steel shaft.

    Chances are the previous owner swapped it out like you said.
    My `98 Formula M6 has an Aluminum shaft.
