I have a shift kit now installed on my remanufactured 4L60E. The trans came from Jasper, and they also put in a slightly better torque converter and a shift kit. The shift kit is indefinitely there, and it's a mod that I can, without a shout of a doubt, know its there. Even on daily driving, the thing KICKS. I'm sure no reprogrammer can do this, cuz this morning I ate breakfast before driving to school and I felt a little queezy like I was on a roller coaster cuz of the kicking around it does. As far as when it's opened up, it feels like the tires wanna come loose through the shifts. Even on the highway, my rear tends to lean to the right after it shifts. The shifts kick so hard I'm sure its noticable the car shifted from other drivers. It reminds me of someone with a stick power-shifting, but without the wheel spin.
Is it a mod you can feel? Definitely! Will it give you a dramatic difference in track times? My guess is it'll help a bit, but nothing amazing. All it does is try to close the gap between shifts; however, it does a damn good job of it. I'd take a ride with somebody that has a shift kit before you install it though, cuz you may change your mind. It does dramatically change the ride even on daily driving.Last edited by myk02k; 03-08-2006 at 07:32 PM.

In all honesty, I don't know. Jasper installed it with the transmission. I'm going to e-mail them cuz I need the specs on the torque converter they installed. My guess is it's a Transgo, since they are the few that manufacture transmission parts, but lemme go search around. I'd have it tuned as well, though. There's a whole shitload of a list of things upgraded on the trans from Jasper, but idk how much of a difference that makes to it. If you were to install a shift kit, I'd check www.jasperengines.com, and look around for different parts that you can install in the tranny as well, since all the parts are relatively cheap. Also, take a look into a torque converter, but keep in mind the bigger they are, the more likely it is to increase breakdown on the trans, driveshaft, and axle.

I doubt that it's a Trans-go. I had a Trans-go kit installed in my 79 Vette because they are a typicaly fast and soft shifting kit. It went from being a six-pack between shifts to a split second. I can hardley notice its there firm wise when driving normal. A local Transmission specialist recomeded it because I wanted fast shifting and something that wouldn't be hard on the car. I had a B&M shift kit installed in my truck it was a very hard shifter. It would break the tires loose into 2nd when not even driving hard.
