rebuilding my rearend installing 3.73s q?'s

okay i got a rebuild kit and motive 3.73 gears. i have a 01 m6 ws6 so im assuming i have stock 3.42's. i know everyone loves 4.10's but i got a stock 10bolt. will i notice power going to 3.73's? i would go with 4.10's but im running nitrous on nitto 555rs and thought 4.10 would be a little much.. yes i know the 10bolts are pos but its my DD and dont have the money to buy a 9'. once i get a job ill be saving to change it out. my car was whinning really bad. axel bearings seem to be worn also. so i needed a rebuild untill i have the money for the swap. so question is can you tell a difference between going to 3.42's to 3.73s. power wise.. also how do i recalibrate the speedo can the shop that is installing all this do this? i have no idea about how to do this.

    thanks

off of thunder racing im getting the deluxe rebuild kit. and also motive gears 3.73s. cost 300. and 150-200 for the rebuild.

Deluxe Kit: Includes pinion shims, carrier shims, crush sleeve, pinion seal, pinion nut, ring gear bolts, cover gasket, pinion & carrier bearings, PLUS wheel bearings and seals. (All of the small parts and pieces necessary to RESTORE an axle to like new condition!)

So hopefully changing gears and rebuilding everything theres no damn whine. im hoping to notice some change with the gears. 4.10 did seem tempting but im already pushing that 10bolt pretty hard. so ill wait till i save up for the 9'.

    anybody here with a m6 with 3.73's????

the only help I can give would be advice......why not pass on the rebuild and just buy a used 10 bolt until you can afford a better rear? I see used 10 bolts going all the time in the $200 range. You can almost buy 3 other rears for what you're about to invest into your 10 bolt. Stick that money aside for a stronger rear sooner. I just wouldn't put any more money than you had to in that 10 bolt.
I would also reconsider the 4.10's. I went from 3.23's to 3.73's in my auto and did notice a difference but that's an auto and a little bigger difference in gears. I almost wish I would've went 3.90's. 4.10's would help your m6 car out quite a bit. This is for your stronger rear, I would just find stock gears in a used 10 bolt until you can afford the new rear.

i was going to go 4.10 but im going to be running a 150shot. i heard i would run out of gear with the tire size i have. nitto 555r dr 315/35/17. i read that you must have 28' in height tire or you will run out of gear. 4.10's sounded really good but with the nitrous i would be having to be shift in 5th which doesnt make me comfortable doing so. thats the only reason i didnt go with them. also i figured a rebuild with new everything new will last longer then a used 10bolt thats prolly been beatin on alot. as soon as i get a job im going to start saving for a 9' just wanted something that will last me that long that wouldnt go out. is it possible to run 4.10's with nitrous 150shot without running out of rear with the tires im running? if it can be done ill get the 4.10's. for sure.

doing the calulation for 410s your trap at 6200 would be 115 in 4th and 125 in 4th at 6700...get a cam and raise the redline and youll be perfect.....mine shuts off around 6700

so think ill be fine running 4.10's and 150shot without raising the rev limiter and without shifting into 5th.
