Thanks to all the assistance on here. Got the car back last night, and had an Auburn Carrier 2 series replaced, and it is working great. The worm gears in my old carrier actually dug themselves into the carrier, and the whole unit is shot.

I just happened to an underside chassis lube today and saw that my differential was leaking from the inspection cover.
After 11 years, a slight weeping is to be expected.
Anyway, I changed the gasket and re-filled with AMSOIL 75/90 gear lube.
I did not add any additive to the fill.
Hope I'm ok but, it seems just fine and is noticeably quieter as the slight whine I heard is now gone.Be who you are and say what you feel 'cause people who mind don't matter, and people who matter don't mind.'
