rearend gears
01 ws6 six spd,guy i bought the car from apparently blew the rear and picked up an automatic rearend,he bought 373 gears to the shop to install in it and they would not fit over the carrier,so they put 273 ? gears back in it and installed it back in the car.wtf do i need to do to get 4.10 in this auto housing,if it even is an auto housing.

Due to the diameter of the pinion gear being larger on a 2.73 than a 3.73 ratio rear, the ring gear sets further from the pinion centerline on the carrier. To install a 3.73 gear set on a 2.73 carrier, you can usually insert a spacer between the carrier and the ring gear to move it closer to the pinion centerline. Not sure if they make a spacer for our stock rears -- here's a sampling: http://www.summitracing.com/search/?...20spacer&dds=1
