is the rear going bad
my 99 ws6 makes a loud whining sound that is at its worst when cruising at about 70mph. i have only had it for about the last 5k miles. it has done this since i got it but i really didnt notice it on the test drive. my problem is that i cant really tell if it is the rear end or exhaust. im not used to have a hatch style car and ive heard the exhaust sound is alot more noticeable. u can hear the whining only when you are on the gas. that is what make me think it could be the exhaust. you let off the gas and the sound just about goes away. ive heard cars with the trans or rear end going out and this doesnt sound quite like that. more of a droaning sound i guess. i hope i have made sense of this. thanks in advance for any feedback.
