rear end noise :(

so my 2002 ss is getting a fairly loud noise most likley from the rearend, its best described as a high pitch whine and sometimes when i stop from a high speed clicking. The car has 55,000 miles and the po said he never changed the rearend i dont think he would lie we go to the same church. What does everybody think it is, ring and pinion?

Check out the U-joint in the rear, may also want to drain the rear end fluid and take a look at it, make sure its not chunky or full of garbage, then refill and ensure you add some lmtd slip additive.

Make sure your spare tire is in there correctly if you haven't already. I put mine back on with the spacer facing the wrong way once. OMFG it sounded like a Sherman tank.

If you hear a click - click - click when slowing down it could be your u-joints. They can dry up and rust.

Normally noise on decel is ring and pinion but like they said above, check your u-joints, it's easy and free. Just remember, he goes to church because he is a sinner, and sinners lie!!!
