rear end girdle
anyone try it, i just got mine in and need to put it in, i also got some nitto 555r size 245/50-16.........THEY say those girdles can beef up the rear to take 450 hp.. now i dont know about that but with a good aftermarket locker, 3.73 gears and this girdle it is still anout 1500 dollars cheaper than a 12 bolt
my car dynos 305 hp right now and is an auto with 2.73 2000 stall
i think if you go a little stall, gears, diff cover, and just under 400 hp you rear should last, well well see how long mine last over the sommer and what times i can pull on it

LIGHT PEWTER METALIC- 1999 SS CAMARO
I don't know if they really help but I tried one too and should give it a full thrashing in a couple of weeks with the juice. I don't think it will hold any more power but who knows? Strange S60 for me in a couple of months.
finally 551 RWHP!!!!

With an auto you should be okay. I have seen some 10 bolts hold up pretty well behind A4's. It's the M6's that tear em up.

I have had a girdle on my A4 SS w/ 325 RWHP and a 3000 stall for about 50,000 miles. I am pulling the girdle and a week or 2 for an inspection and fluid replacement. The rear howls a lil bit but works just fine otherwise. I'll report my findings.

The girdle is supposed to add extra strength to the very weak housing of the 10 bolt. Not sure if anyone ever did any conclusive and diffinitive tests but seems like it would help a little. The problem is that under hard loads even with good specs in the rear, the housing can flex, causing dreaded pinion deflection. When this happens the bearing preload can be lost resulting in howling gears and ultimate long run failure.
Like the other guys said the auto is a little easier on the rears so you could see 450 with a 10 bolt but depending on how you drive it's really a matter of time on slicks until the 10 bolt will need attention. I'm on my third one with 91000 miles but drive balls to the wall with sick launches on the nitrous and slicks with a six speed tranny, so go figure.
Guys were given me crap on here for leaving so hard but I dont care. I come to race and win and If it breaks ill fix it and am puttin in my 9 inch rear soon. Peace and good luck with it. If you really want to build you 10 bolt you can add a back brace with some trick welding and also I would recommend c-clip eliminators for safety. That way if you break an axle you wont lose a wheel. I've broke a couple axles before in my modded third gens, it's scary.

I was thinking of doing a 3200 stall and a rear end girdle. I can't afford a 12 bolt, so I'm really afraid that I might bust my rear. I dunno exactly how much my engine is putting out right now, but it should be around 335ish at least with my mods.
