Rear end efficiency
has any one done test to see what after market rear has the best effciency? i cant find any thing but was told there was a test with a moser 9" a strange 12 bolt and a s60.

I don't have any numbers to back it up but I hear that the 9 inch rears are less efficient than the 12 bolt. something like a 2% extra drivetrain loss on the 9 inch but the benefit is that the 9 inch is stronger and runs quieter. I'd take a 2% hit for the peace of mind and extra hp capacity.

Car craft did a test several month ago. Between the weight and losses they were all between 2 or 3 % of each other.

The 12 bolt has the lightest internals so it is the most efficient (and weakest) of the three. And.....contrary to popular belief.... the 9" is stronger than the bigger heavier Dana 60 due to a better design....
