Rear of 99 Z28 Twichy at full throttle

    I have a 99 Z28 with the 6 speed.

At full throttle the rear of the car feels twichy, almost like a movement from one side to the other. Anyone else seen this?

Seems really bad from third gear up. Car runs fine, just seems a bit loose.

    83K miles, original shocks.

More info please! What suspension work / replacement parts have you done? If you still have the original shocks, they're pretty much shot at this point. And, judging from that fact, it doesn't sound like you've done too much suspension work at all.

Additional data, completly stock, nothing has been changed. I figured shocks would also be in order. I bought some KYB G-2's on sale for $23.00. I was told from tirerack they are similar to stock.

Check all the rear suspension components.

Trailing arms and bushings, sway bar bushings and end links, coil springs, shocks, panhard rod, and torque arm and mounts.

If anything it worn or loose, replace it. That should tighten up the rear end nicely.

Pulled the shocks and they were in great shape, which amazed me. Replaced Panhard Bar, had a new one, replaced torque arm bushing with energy suspension piece. Have not tested, but all looked good and tight.

It's impossible to tell if a shock's internal valving is worn by looking at it. You can see obvious signs of seal failure by seeing if there's shock fluid on the body of the shock. Are the bushings on the lower control arms good also? It's inexpensive enough to replace the LCAs with better aftermarket parts that have greasable poly bushings. Are the sway bar body bushings and end links good?
