    newb rear end questions

First off i did do a search and didnt come up with anything. I am starting to get a lot of noise in the rear of the car (was a flood Recovery ) am wanting to put a 12 bolt in it but dont want the 2000 dollar price tag from moser. I am able to cut, weld, and fab are there any GM 12 bolt rear ends that i can modify and get to work for me? I really dont know much about what will work. Has anyone done this? Like I said I am a newb on this and i did do a search with no luck.

No torque arm mount is the downfall with this car. It has been done before but it inevitably takes almost as much money, and looks like Frankenstein.

Best and cheapest rout is to buy a moser 9" housing and axle package and then getting a used third member. Looking at around $1500-1800 going this way.

Thanks! I also have another question, is there any way to get the 10" to handle 450hp? i really only want to go 11's in the end, amd i am on a tight budget.

Sure a ten bolt can handle 450 hp. its for how long thats the question.

Well it depends... Most people don't have good luck with ten bolts, especially when drag racing. Trying to leave hard on a sticky tire just beats the crap out of these rear ends, they're simply not meant to take that kind of abuse.

c clips blow..emilinate those..beef up the axles.l.and then beef up the center section..also mrr23 did something with the gears of his 10 bolt..took it to some place where they treated them..and its handling over 450.

it is not a track car. it is my summertime daily driver. it might see the track for 3 passes a year if it is lucky. i just want to be able to run with one of my buddies with his vette.

1/4 means nothing on the street. a 11 sec strip car might only run 12+ on street..traction being the biggest issue.

if your on the street and have aa4..you shouldnt have to worry about your 10 bolt..since tires will give before the rear does

Another option if you can weld is get a 8.8 mustang rear. The hardest part would be fabbing up a torque arm mount as said before.
