    2002 Z28 Camaro A4

Need help with this decision. Please read...

    I had a 2000 V6 Camaro before I bought my Z28.

I raced the V6 also, and put 4.10 Gears, LSD, and a Girdle.

I gave the V6 to my parents, and got the Z.

    I put 3.42s into the Z.

My Dad wants to switch rear ends because they don’t race the V6, and it gets bad gas milage with the 4.10s.

My Z28 runs 12.743 @ 108.74 mph w/ 1.90 60' with the 3.42 Gears (Modifications: SLP Lid, Custom Exhaust, 3.42 Gears, Mickey Thompson Drag Radials.)

    Should I switch rear ends???

Will the 4.10s take away any top end in the Z28 at the track, like will it lower my trap speed?

Will it improve my times at all?

Because this seems like a good deal for both me and my parents, I just want to make sure before I switch.

I wouldn't switch, I would save up and buy a real rearend. Chances are you will grenade that rear at the track.

id think just buy a lower gear for the v6.

You didn't keep the stock gear from the v6?

    Yes we kept them.

But we don’t have the money for a gear change, it cost me $510 (Labor) just to have 3.42s put in my Z28.

I don’t want to have to spend that again for the V6.

A whole rear end swap is cheaper, correct?

    $150 is way cheap man.

my buddy did it for $180.

anyhow, swapping rears is going to be very expensive. unless you do it yourself
