    Question Moser 9inch axel install!

    Here is the deal i bought a moser 9inch for my 2002 trans am 3 channel, i was looking at the axles and i realize the stock 10 bolt axles use a c-clip to hold in the axles. On other 9 inches i seen the use of c-clip eliminators, so here is the problem unless moser dropped the ball and forgot to supply me with c-clip eliminators, i have no idea what's gonna keep the axles from coming out. If anybody out there that's running a moser 9inch and knows what the deal with that is, please let me know asap!

    The nine inch doesn't use clips. It uses the brake backing plates to retain the bearings. They need to be slid on the axle before the axle bearings are pressed on. Make sure you install the proper side backing plate on the proper axle. The backing plates will then bolt to the axle tubes.

    +1 A lot of people also use loctite on the bolts to ensure they don't come loose since there is no clip.

    Ok thank you guys so much, my buddy is helping me with the project and he did a nine inche and they used the eliminators on it, so he had me all worried stressed out lol!

    The axle seal can be a little tricky as well. I had 3 different ones leak on my 9". Just be sure to install it into the axle housing as straight as you possibly can and do no crush it at all (it's easy to do). I ended up making a tool to install it and also used RTV around the seal between its outer diameter and the inside diameter of the axle housing.

    Lastly, be sure to have lube on the axle itself prior to sliding the seal over it so you don't scar or tear the rubber at all on the axle seal.
