White- 02 Pontiac Trans Am WS.6
MM6 rebuild
I'm a newbie to the forum ands an an oldbie to car repair.
I have an 02 Trans Am, the Snap ring on the hub at 5 to 6 gear committed suicide taking several parts out on the on the rear section of the counter shaft.
The parts I need according to the parts guy at the dealership come in a gear kit #12525946 because of a bad shaft that cannot be obtained separately.
The problem for me is that I will not know what is actually in the kit unless I order it in.
The meat of my question is...Has anyone ordered this kit before and what does it actually contain?
You can google the kit part number but nobody has pictures.
A parts breakdown for the whole trans.
The GM drawing for the trans is GM04-457 10/23/2006
Easy to find if you google GM trans part # 12561561
can't post the link
#128 is the bad shaft .
Is the kit a whole assembly right up to the bearings on the end of the shafts?
It is supposed to have the whole solid counter shaft too (#105) according to the parts guy but he cant tell me if it has the bearings on the case ends of the shafts or not. I'm thinking it probably does, but I don't like the bet.
If nobody knows than I guess I will be the one to clue people in when I get it.

White- 02 Pontiac Trans Am WS.6
Those places did not have two specific pieces I need.
I had to bite the bullet and trust the dealer parts guy.
$1600 and wait a week.
I have a hard time believing that this problem has not happened to someone here at this forum, fifth to six gear on these trans is problematic.
I know that they break housings and shift forks.
This one peeled a snap ring next to the shift hub and wiped out a Spacer between the two piece counter shaft rear housing and the front end of the rear section of the trans.
The front counter shaft is fine, the rear (auxillery shaft) is toast.
The kit is to buy both with all the gears on it.
The rest of the available parts added up to $1000 and they are supposed to be on in this kit that nobody has a picture of or, a total detailed description of it unless, you belong to the GM dealership mafia.
Too much overdrive!
