Plus...I enjoy shifting myself. More of a challenge.

I don't drag enough to justify the automatic. Although if I raced anymore than I do, I would have already swapped in a TH400.

if you get either an A4 or M6 do you need to upgrade your stock transmission or is it good enough to keep?

supposedly Manuals lose roughly 10-12% on average through the drivetrain, where as Auto's lose around 15-17%... roughly. And yes I would say if you gonna go above 400 RWHP in a Manual, upgrade the T56 to at least extended (hardened synchros, steel shift forks, bronze shift fork pads). And from what I have been seeing, if you get a cam and stall for an Auto (350+ RWHP), a rebuild is soon to come on an Auto (4L60E). This just from personal observation.

manuals u can shift yourself and there 6 spds. where as auto's are 4 spds. .. more gears means lower rpms at certian speeds in my M6 i do 65 mph at 1500 rpm

yeah i guess that's an advantage, it seems like in a manual you have more control over your car n what not.. maybe it's just me

Cool? For a new car? I would much much rather have the OD 4 speed AT or maybe a 5 speed AT if it was offered. I would like to put a TH350 or a built 200R4 in my '68 LeMans ragtop, tho. Get rid of the f'n 2 speed it currently has.
Any of you drag racers want a 2 speed free (Pontiac bolt pattern) and give me a good running TH 350 or 200R4?

Not worried about mileage. That is just what it gets.

If I wanted to get the most out of my car at the dragstrip, it wouldn't be an M6. I want it to do well, but it doesn't need to be a drag car.
It sees 95% (or more) street time.
