    Locker in a 9in?

Well I recently broke my second TracLoc in my Moser 9". I have an m6 with a little over 400 rwhp and 31 spline axles. Im tired of breaking stuff and pulling this rear end apart. My car is usually a street driven car with maybe 10-15 track visits a year. I want something that will hold up to the abuse yet still be somewhat streetable. I am thinking about the Yukon Grizzly Locker. Anyone out there have one? I know they can be noisy but keep hearing people say not to get them if you have a 6 speed.

Does anyone have an m6 that drives with their locker on the street? What are the pros and cons? Wavetrac would be nice but for double the price I can't do it. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

Interesting, but I'm thinking if you keep breaking it, something is wrong with your set-up...just my .02.

Are you experiencing bad wheel hop on your launch?

You aren't running that much power to be breaking that rear.

Thats what I thought too. For my rear suspension I have adj lcas, adj torque arm and crossmember, adj phb, and sfc. I dont get anywheel hop anymore. But I keep breaking shit lol. First time I broke it I was driving normal and cracked the welded flange that the ring gear bolts to. This time I broke something internally in the posi after I did a burnout and went to shift into second I had nothing. I don't know. I was reading on tech how people have broke them with less power than I have.

I'm just tired of having things break on me. I haven't read many horror stories on the lockers besides the noises and whatnot. I'd just like something I wont have to take apart in a year and spend more money on.

Hmmm. Who set the rear end up? I wonder if everything was set properly; backlash, pinion depth, preload etc.

Is your pinion angle set correctly with your torque arm...what angle?

I've had my 9" TruTrac for over a year now and have beat on it pretty badly. I only have 330rwhp/342rwhp, but mine is still as quiet as the day I got it installed.

There are some people running lockers on here on the street and I'm sure they'll chime in eventually.

I think LS1camino is one of them.

The person I got it from builds rear ends and works with Moser. It was an inner part of the diff that failed i believe.

I would be calling Moser and bitching a fit if you haven't already.

Have you tried calling Bob at Brute Speed and asking him about this issue you're having?

He is probably one of the most well versed people I know on Moser rear ends.

No I haven't, I probably wouldn't get anywhere. But it never hurts to try! And I think I will call Bob. I've been readin over on tech and found a lot of people have had problems with the Trac loc/Truetrac breaking.

That is scary to hear as I'm in the process of getting a Procharger installed on mine and will be in the neighborhood of 550 at the wheels.

Oh well...I have high hopes If it breaks, I'll put in a Wavetrac center section.

Call Bob and ask him about it. He's over on Tech. He was telling me at his old shop once about how one broke in their 800rwhp GTO.

I'm sure it's a hit or miss like a lot of other things. I hope it holds up for you. This is the 3rd rear end I've broke. So as you can guess I want something to hold the abuse lol. I plan on boosting mine too in the future.

To answer the original question...I love my Detroit Locker. Drives like a stock rear almost all the time. Sharp turns and reverse throw it for a loop, but besides that, it's great.

What sort of things do you notice with it? Clicking around tight turns? What about regular turns/curvy roads? M6? Also how is the shifting?

I really only notice the clicking around 90 degree or U turns...curvy roads, not so much.

Yes, M6, and it shifts fine.

Assuming then you just swapped out the center section?

Nope, I upgraded when I placed the order. It's cheaper then.
To upgrade later you have to get new axles.

Ah, didn't think about that. Makes sense.

Well, if mine blows (crossing fingers and knocking on wood it won't), that is probably my next choice since I already have the entire housing.

I am assuming it would bolt right in? What spline axles do you have? 35?

Yes 35, that is what the wavetrac requires.

It was alot cheaper to upgrade it when I ordered it. Plus the lifetime warranty is nice.
