How well will 4.10's hold up in my car.

I'd like to know how many M6 drivers out there have swapped in 4.10's and how long you've had them? How well do they put up with hard launches? Who's destroyed a rear with them? What brand make the strongest and quietest set?

I have 4.10's for a little over two years....launching is difficult I'am putting LCA's and relocation brackets on this weekend will let you know how it is. I love the gears though still get over 35 mpg on the e-way! mine make noise sometimes is kind of annoying but get used to it.

quietness is all about the install...

4:10's will hold up for a while as long as they are installed right... also it depends on your current mods....if you're going to put in 4:10's replace your possi unit unless it has low miles and also your bearings...

I have 4.10's in my M6 car and they've been fine. They are relatively quiet too.

I don't understand why everyone says 4.10's are so much weaker than 3.42's. The ring gear is bigger, which should put less stress on the pinion gear, since its easier to turn a larger ring gear than a smaller one.

That's what I've always wondered!!! Is it just the GM housing that can't support the torque? How many hard lauches at the track have you had Wesman? Also, do you need the install kit's they make? I won't be doing the install, how much is the going rate? Also, do those diff covers/ girdles make *any* difference? Is it just cheap insurance?

ohh you wont destroy your rear with 4.10's with street tires...just dont plan on having 1st or sec gear anymore or racing anybody under 40mph,lol....get some dr's and one launch above 4k and you'll be 2.5k in the hole for a new rear

Lots of hard street driving and 2 launches at the track. Both times I launched between 2000 and 2500RPM, with 285/40/17 tires.

Probably $200-$300 at a shop.

They help somewhat, because they apply pressure to the bearing caps to keep them from deflecting under stress. However, it still doesn't make the rear bulletproof by any means. Definitely helps though.

Had mine for about 2 years but only have about 2 or 3 thousand miles on em (garage queen). very rarely hear any gear noise and the change in non-hwy driving was excellent. i recommend it

Have had my 4.10s on for almost 2 years. And let me tell you, I've never dropped the clutch above 1500k rpm; still have the stock rear end. Now from a roll, that's a different story...

I have an Lid, LS6 intake and full exhaust w/ LT's. most all bolt ons, no cam. Will I be alright w/ 4.10's and Nitto 555's?

I've had mine for 5 years and the only issue after 35K miles is a little more gear noise than the stock 3.42's. I drive the car daily; most of the time like a normal person, but hard everytime a Mustang is involved. I have lower control arms, panhard, torque arm, etc. w/ BFG G-Force tires, so the car plants pretty good, which in turn means there really is no need to get into the 2500 or 3000 rpm launch range. The car leaves so much better with 4.10's you don't really have to rev high to make your point. I kinda like it when someone gets that fender length on the launch and then you drive past them like they were in reverse!!

Mine will be 5 years installed next month. 24k miles on them. I pulled the rear to clean and paint it and looked at the gears. They were like new.

I absolutely love the quickness from the 4.10's, and the pulling they give me on the street.
