    Question High mileage?

I just read a post where someone is selling 3.73 gears because he has too many miles on his car, is that really a problem? i have 127,000 on my Z and i want to do that upgrade. Am i going to need a new rearend first? i hope not. I dont currently have any issues with it. thanks for any responses.

if you have already saved up for some gears then keep on saving until you have enough to buy a better rear because the fact is that the 10 bolts aren't that great of rear ends, so upgrading it is like throwing money away.

Amen to that. I had 127k on my rear when I put a 3.73 in it. Unfortunately, even though you may have all new gears and bearings, you've still got a posi unit with 127k miles. Now I've split my posi in half, tore teeth off the ring and pinion, and I'm replacing the whole damn rear. Should have saved the $1k and put it towards the MWC rear I'm putting in now.

MWC = Midwest Chasis. It is a lot lol. I would guess all said and done about 3Kish, or close to.

MidWest Chassis builds a fabricated 9" that is built like a friggin' tank. Look on their site for info (I tend to stay away from talking about pricing and such because of the strict sponsor rules and I'm trying to avoid getting slapped on the wrist.) If you're just looking for a 9", 12-bolt, or Dana60, look through the forum- many people talk about them and will tell you where they got their's.
