Help me pick my rear end specs

I've read a bunch of posts.

    LINK REMOVED [thanks buddy]

I think I'm going to go with this Moser 12 bolt with the posi.
I have an M6 and most people say go with the 4.10 gears. Agree?

It's a 2002 TA M6 with WS6 package. I want to keep ABS - so which options do I need? The 3 channel or the 4 channel?

Also, which sway bar do I need? Will be mounting to original stock parts. 19mm or 21mm?

Also, any place with the best price on this rear end?

Thanks for you time and opinions guys!

psst... you should remove that link, as it's a non sponsor link. The first admin to see it is gonna remove it for ya

But you can certainly describe the part you're looking at from there and get opinions. Just don't link directly to it k...

And for the record, I know nothing useful about it

    Pass on Moser.
Pass on 12 bolt for M6 if going Moser.

Have you considered a 9"? Or a Dana?

FWIW, I have the Moser 12 bolt -- you can see the install here: Bidding my rear adieu! Both the 9" and Dana will stand up to more abuse than a 12 bolt -- especially since you have an M6. Our car is A4 so I was not as concerned. I chose the 12 bolt for its efficiency, lower weight and fitment.

For M6 -- 4.10 is what you probably should go with.

Yes, I was going to get a 9" from Midwest Chassis and performance, but he recommended a new drive shaft since mines an m6 and he said the weak point would be the Ujoint adaptor. The price really went crazy went I added posi and ABS and wound up around $3300.
Price for the 12 bolt that I found is $2250 and includes posi and just $100 more for the ABS addon and another $75 for the sway bar. So that comes to say $2500ish and I'm not sure the 9" is worth $800 more.

Got a link to a drop in dana? Haven't looked at that. It's a daily driver with a stock engine and clutch. Might have minor engine enhancements in the future but will never visit a track.

    Thanks

The 10 bolt in it now has the pinion bearing destroyed and it's banging and clunking horribly. I thought I'd put a stronger rear end in it instead of fixing the crappy 10 bolt. Only has 56K miles on it. Figured the money would be better spent there so I don't just break another 10 bolt.

Am I all wet? I have someone interested in my 10 bolt when I do upgrade it - what would one needing rebuilt be worth? What should I ask for it? A couple hundred?

I don't care for the idea of putting much money into the stocker. Always better to get something bulletproof.
But if you aren't planning on really getting much traction....it would be A LOT cheaper.

Look into Strange 12 bolt's if you are wanting piece of mind but don't beat on it.

Personally, I flog the shit outta my car, so I went Moser 9".
Somewhat regretting the Moser choice, but not the 9" choice.

The 12 bolt ran $2,800 when all was said and done. I added a True Trac, 33 spline axles, 4 channel, welded sway bar brackets and relocation brackets.

Pretty sure that is what he has on his car....

To the OP, your rear end gear ratio will depend on what you want in the end for your car. If you are leaving the engine relatively stock with just bolt-ons, then yes a 4.10/4.11 set-up wouldn't be a bad way to go.

It really all depends on the set-up you want.

Regarding your question about which ABS to go with, since your car is an 02, it has the 4 channel system, with the wheel speed sensors at each wheel.

You can keep the stock sway bar and mounting with a 9", but it is a pretty tight fit.

What is the width of the rear in the 1998-2002 f-body? Just wondering....
