There are online calculators to tell you what RPM you should be at based on speed, tire size, and your transmission ratio.

A 2004 GTO A4 has the following transmission ratios:
    1st gear - 3.06:1
    2nd gear - 1.63:1
    3rd gear - 1.00:1
    4th gear - 0.70:1

Stock rear end ratio for the 04 GTO was 3.46

I don't know what tire size you are running so I cannot calculate it for you. However, stock tire size for your car is a 275/45-17. If you are running this tire size, your car should be right at 2135RPM at 70MPH.

    Hope that helps.

245/45/17 on the 04's. i own one and thats what came on it. and all the others i have looked at. the 275 wouldn't make any difference. just a little wider. i ran 275's on mine and had to use spacers and do a inner fender tuck also, or they would rub. and that was with the stock 04 gto wheels.
