gears and traction what ratio
For A4 cars what ratio do you recommend for 90 % street 10% track, just bolt ons, street tires with an option for Nitto DR. Im looking for more torque or seat of the pants kick when I floor it which wont happen if it just spins. Popular saying A4 go with 373 or would 342 do it or would 323 be enough? I have 273 now. If you answer can you explain from your experiences? Thanks!

I wish I kept my 323 and did a tune instead. My friend has 323s tuned and will beat me easily. 373 make my A4 shift quicker with normal driving and I hate that.

he's got a 99' vs my 02'...mods are; LS6 intake vs his LS1, MSD wires vs his stock, SLP MAF & smooth bellows vs his stock, gutted cats. We both have lids, hedders & exhaust, free mods. His car runs AMAZING! I assume it's the tune.

I got tired of the pro and cons and gave in to the majority. I ordered 3.73 last week but I think the speed shop is playing games and told me they thought they had them in stock and a week later after 2 or 3 messages they said oops we dont have them but maybe we can get them. Funny thing is they did something similar to me with exhaust. I guess I never learn.

X2.
rickssz: personally for tires I wouldn't go Nitto DRs. I chose to try out the MT ET Street Radials, and love em (they seem to love below 17 PSI and a lil smokey burnout at the track). Tire choice is a big deal here. Just like everyone else says though, the MT are NOT meant for driving in weather.
And 373 would be a good choice. But traction on the street is always gonna be a problem, no matter what gears you choose.

go with 373, i picked up .4 in an 1/8mile going from 273 to 373; i also would not go with nitto dr's, after i did my stall i could not hook at all on 315/35r17 nitto's i went with the same size in hoosier dr's and now i hook perfect at the track

that's what I was thinking. Swap in a 10 bolt from a 6 speed for less then you can put in gears.
