    which gears to go with

    ok i have made different post on my car and i have been adding all these upgrades to the car and im finding out a lot of things are just wrong.

    i have a ls1 with a sts turbo kit and a mosier 33 spline rear end with 373 gears the previous owner put in. the car is not doing so well at take off and by the time i start to boost (which is another problem i am working on) i already have to shift because im getting close to max rpm.

    everyone i have talked to has recomended 373 gears but have said that those gears for a m6 and turbo were a bad combo. does anyone which set of gears i should go with?? thx

    3.42s with sts. you're probably not making more that 500rwhp. the 3.42's will get you moving and your shift points won't come as quick. The guys saying 4.10's and 3.90s are yanking your chain. What do you mean by not so good on take off? You should at least have stock power which is more than enough to get you moving in first gear with 3.73s unless you are runnin DOT's.

    Sounds more like a problem with your turbo setup. You say that by the time you start to boost you have to shift because of hitting high rpms. You should be getting boost a lot lower than 6000 or even 5500 rpm. Gears will not change when your boost comes in for the most part.

    True, I'd say look into the tune. I've seen my buddies dyno curve be shifted to the left and yield more overall useable hp by just changing the tune.

    Agreed. You want higher gearing for S/C and Turbo set-ups. Now if you were running a big cam, that's another story.
