Ford 9-inch Problems -- Need Help

I have a 9-inch Ford setup with Detroit Locker, 31 spline, and Richmond 4.11's. I've recently changed out the lube for 85-140 weight. And now after the car is driven for about 10-15 miles, the rearend gets loud and clunky. It Feels as if my tires are square rather than round and it pops and snaps and rachets.

Since I don't know anything about the detroit lockers, I'm wondering if the locker rearends need a lube additive? Does the Ford 9's require a special additive with the lube? Will adding an additive help my situation? What additive should I use?

    Thanks,
    midnitejam

Hi, Mr. Luos. Thanks for your time.

I was wondering about your application in which you use the trutrac. What differentiates the trutrac from the detroit locker?

    Thanks again for your time.

    TruTrac is a limited slip.
Locker has no slip to it.

The Lockers will do that. I just purchased the same set up you described and the guy that I bought it from (builds hundreds of them a month literally) told me it will do that and that it is normal with the locker. I'll call him tomorrow and get some more answers on the lube thing this guy knows his stuff.

One thing that can cause a locker to "snap"(actually the differential locking and unlocking)while driving down the road is if your tires are not the same circumference. Usually a non-issue with radials, but it could happen. I've seen it numerous times on cars running drag and street/drag tires. I've also seen people use the wrong lube and it will cause it as well. Check with the manufacturer of the differential for thier recommendation.

I called my builder (sorry was busy couldnt get to it earlier) he said any 90 oil you can use. Synthetic or reg. NO additive lockers don't have clutches.
