    Nitto 555's are great for the street. But they are considered a "summer" tire. Where I live that means all year for me however MD might be an issue with your winter temps. It's the cold that effects the rubber.

    Size wise it depends on the wheel size. For a wheel that is 17x9 the largest you can run is 275 size. With a 17x9.5 or 10 you can run 295-305. I personally wouldn't go above the 295's because of the potential for rubbing. You can have the fender rolled to be able to safely run the 305's or higher.

    I would also look at getting those gears change to a 373 GR, 4.10's in a 10 bolt is begging to have it go out. Not enough material on the gear teeth to withstand the load that can be put onto them.

    2000 WS6 Trans Am

    so would you recommend I not get the 555's at all for the rear? Is the summer tire considered too sticky as well? I am looking at the 275/35/18 size. I have the 245's upfront

    It has to do with the temps in your area during winter. IIRC summer tires and they vary on brand, at temps below 40 become very hard and lose some of their performance and can wear faster. If they get too cold and the temps can lead to blowout. Thus the reason for summer use only.

    But when in their operation temp range they perform great. Not too sticky for track use. My best 60ft time with them is embarrassing 2.xx. Just not great to use at a track compared to DR or slicks.

    I can say they perform very well in the rain too.

    I track my '00 WS6 6spd now and then. My best time to date is 13.2 @ 105, 2.1 reaction I believe. I let the clutch out easy engine at 2500rpms, Nitto NT555s OE size 275/40-17. SLP lid & catback, lowered 1.25" roughly. I certainly do not plan to put drag radials or any sticky tire on the 10 bolt. Not even the Nitto NT05 tires. Work that clutch easy, no problems.
