    Dowshifting w/ a Detroit Locker

This happened a few months ago when the car was running, but I just remembered it.

After I installed my 9" w/ Detroit Locker I went out for a test drive. While on said test drive, I downshifted coming to a red light, and the car started fish tailing, almost to the point of spinning out. I immediately pulled it out of gear and stopped with the brakes.

I know the reason behind this is the new rear, but I don't know why...anyone care to enlighten me? If it is the norm with Lockers, then I won't worry, if it's not then I have a problem.

    Thanks.

did it red line? if so you mighta locked it up....

or you could have torqued the drive shaft, and when it flexed back it broke the rear loose

    i dunno, lol

Here is a decent site that explains the inner workings of different types of differentials.

You may know already now, but I still found it to be useful.
