I'll have to check what is available. Anything 75W on up should be good, especially as our car never sees cold weather driving.

So if I put amsoil in the rear, do I need the additive?

If MY2000 has a Torsen posi, I really doubt it is necessary. Torsen does recommend the additive with conventional gear oils though even though there are no clutches.

Well sure, you could be suspicious and it's usually better you are when marketing is involved but did you see pages 21 and 22 of the test? Yep! Signed and notarized affidavits. The testing found therein is repeatable by any laboratory capable of running standardized tests.

BTW, That test is a bit dated, check out this: SEVERE GEAR Technology - VOPP link

So! It's even better than it was...

I know that is an easy trap to fall into. The problem with that summary dismissal is that is an independent lab utilizing industry accepted testing methodologies. If anybody thinks a lab is going to prostitute itself and risk its certification for one testing request from one customer....well I submit that is very far fetched at best.

    The testing is valid.

Yeah I'm ok with that answer. I'm a believer. I think I might switch to Amsoil Gear lube. I'm currently running GM Synthetic gear...it was free. I'm glad to see it tested fairly well.
