    Negative. Fucker is leaking AGAIN.

This leaves me to believe two things:
    a) I received an axle that is bent or
    b) I received a bearing that is no good.

I CANNOT believe that 3 different seals installed by 3 different people all leak without one of the two things above being wrong.

Sorry to hear this one is still fighting you. Do you have a dial gauge that you can check axle runout with?

Good call Jeff. This is what I was actually going to try. My neighbor is a mechanic and told me he had one I can borrow.

That really is the only thing that it could be in my opinion.

Well it was decent out today so I got into the garage and pulled the axle again. The axle seal is definitely not leaking around the OD of the seal where it seats against the housing. The RTV I used seems to be fully sealed and intact.

It appears to be leaking from the ID of the seal where it seats against the axle itself.

I'm going to clean it off real good and try to see what condition the rubber seal portion is in before I pull the axle seal and install a new one; look for oblong shape/not round and tears

Someone informed me to try to put axle bearing grease on the ID of the seal and also on the axle itself where it would sit inside the ID of the seal and re-install before trying to replace the seal again.

I'll take some pictures and post up.

I'm guessing this seal with the RTV is going to be a PITA to remove now.

yah alot of seals aren't meant to be put together dry. They'll get eaten up fast. Lube up that seal and axle with something. I'd use gear lube or motor oil, but grease might work also.

I ended up looking at the existing installed axle seal really good and it was f'd up on the ID. It was not round and a few places of it were smashed so I pulled it.

I then cleaned up all of the RTV and got it all nice and pretty.

I installed the new axle seal with my new tool I made. It went perfectly straight and was much easier this time around. I then RTV'd the OD again and put grease on the ID of the seal as well as on the OD of the axle where the seal seats.

Everything is installed right now. I'm going to let it cure for a few days before I try to drive it.

My father works with a guy who builds engines and drag races for a hobby. He mentioned to him about my situation with this whole axle leak...

The builder said that there should be a vent on the rear end to relieve pressure when the gear oil heats up and if it isn't there, the gear oil will blow through that axle seal.

My question is, what should I be looking for? I assume it will be on the topside of the center section. Will it be just a tube or stem of some sort just sticking out? If anyone has a picture that would be great. I'm at work now and plan on looking for it when I get home this evening.

It will either be a tube as you said or it will be a plastic fitting with a loose fitting cap on it.. On stockers it's usually on top of the diff housing and off to one side..

Good to hear you may have it licked this time. Your vent could be on an axle tube or the diff itself. It should be right on top wherever it is located. My 12 bolt came with a tapped hole in the driver side tube and a barbed brass fitting to install in the hole.

The vent should be a brass fitting and it on the drivers side axle tube.
