you're going to suffer a bit with 3:93 gears on the highway... 3:73 are all you really need unless you have a big cam...

My thing is I realy don't care about gas mileage and I would never drive the car over say 120.I just want the car to get there faster.I really don't want to upgrade motor other than bolt ons.My pinion gear is leaking and I was just about to change the fluid and notice the leak.So thought I would go ahead and change everything.

    T-rock,
I learned to drive and have had manuals in almost every car I have ever owned and have never had a performance car with auto.So this auto thing is all new to me and all you guys here have been very helpfull in helping figure it out.I just can't picture in my mind how a stall will feel in normal driveing conditions. Thanks

manuals lol.. just 3000 stall on a stock car should be all you need they are very streetable even in stop and go traffic but beware after that you might become a mod addict like some of us speed junkies here.

you say you want the car to get there faster well stalls can net you up to .5 sec on the track and its a good bang for the buck but if $$ is no object then you better start planning.

I'm running a Vigalante 3400 rpm stall with 3:73 gears. You can crank my car up and put it in gears and it will more or less pull itself aroud at Idle, if you let it. It will take off like a preachers car if you drive it easy and after 45 mph the convertor locks up and she drives and cruises like a normal car. However if you nail it then its gonna stall pretty close to 3800, lite the tires and your gone.

I currently run a 3000 stall and 3.73's. Most minor bolt ons and a mild cam... VERY streetable. Feels a tad sluggish under light acceleration off the line/streetlight, but you can Definately tell the stall is there when you hammer down or even 1/2-3/4 throttle.
If you go that route, I'd recommend some suspension upgrades too. I did LCA relocators and boxed LCA's, panhard rod, SFC's, STB and Tunnel brace with safety loop. I can feel the difference in traction.. Less loss and more go, I still spiiiin in first and get a little sideways goin into second. But waaaay less and it barely, if ever barks third anymore.
Gears and Stall Oh ya baby. Manual what? My buddy went 4.10s. Too much for me...I run about 2250 rpms at 70 and the exhaust note is just fine.. In my buddy's WS6 with 4.10s at 70 she's screaming... Too much noise and lost fuel, but it's a personal call. I think 3.73's are a perfect match for DD and fun..Just get a good set and have it installed right... trust the guys on here.. It's cheaper to do it right then to do it twice.

There are a couple A4s running 3.90s out there, but not many. Most choose the 3.73s for Autos due to daily driving. Do a search for 3.90s.

I wanted something different and a little more aggressive. So I just received my 3.90 Motives for my A4 yesterday. I will be putting them in one it gets a little warm here. (Will ever get warm here in MI? C'mon!)

I have a 228R cam, a 3500 Yank, and all the major bolt ons. Plus lowered and Hotchkis LCA and Panhard. I think my setup is more suited for the 3.90s.
