gears are a wierd thing. the ring and pinion wear into each other and have a certain way they go together or they will howl and make all kinds of racket. i would just get a new set just to be safe if it were me.

that being said, if they are GM gears and are for a 7.5 i'm pretty sure they will fit your car

I know what you mean I am undecided. My car has 3:23 and they are nice and quiet plus my car has 95000 miles so I don't know if new gears would just howl

if they're installed right they won't. i have 3.73's and they don't make any noise at all, they just have to be dialed in right by somebody that knows what they're doing

They are the same rear, so the terms are interchangeable. It called both a 7.625 ring gear as well as a 7.5" ring gear.

Just some of my observations. GM gears are better than the aftermarket companies for durability.

One of the main reasons for this is the GM gear is about an 1/8 of an inch bigger. Though it is still a 10 bolt so I would not expect it to handle lots of power that sticks.

Thanks I don't know if I should buy used or not my mechanic doesn't warranty his work when I bring in a used part but he says he would look at it and tell me if it's good.

I bought my motive gears on ebay for a lot less. I think i paid 129.00 for them plus shipping, and thats brand new. You shouldnt have to pay over 200 for motive gears, used gears are fine as long as the teeth on them are good and you replace the bearings. Id still buy brand new motive gears for 129.00 and replace any bearings if needed.

Not in Canada. Here you pay $250.00 foe the gears and $400 to install them plus 13% tax but where did you get the gears ?

Not really, I would never buy used gears.

If the guy who had them before you didn't set them up properly, you're going to have an improper wear pattern on the teeth, which will cause the gears to whine like crazy when you install them.

For the extra money, just buy new. The price you paid of $129 for new Motives is a steal, you really can't beat that.
