The 12 bolts (Moser and Strange) are direct, drop in fits. Most like the Strange better for it's torque arm mount is a better design. The Moser 9' can require some massaging of the drive shaft tunnel to get the torque arm to fit in, from what I've read. Other than that it's stronger and better choice for 6 speeds. The Strange S-60 is a stouter unit also but heavy and requires a different drive shaft legnth. If I'm leaving something out forgive me.

If your "axle seal" is leaking, you will have gear oil on the inside of your rim.

That's a good choice. Do it right the first time and forget about it.

So i did some shopping. TSP has Moser for 3k 12 bolt and 3500 for the 9". But the MWC 9" Fab is $2700 but options will most likely raise it up.
Whats some options that i should get?
Goals---400hp+ for next few years then a 402/408 or built up LS1 FI

the Moser pricing was from Texas Speed Performance
the midwest pricing was from midwest directly

just checked moser engineering. $2600 ...but i dont know what to get for some of the options...
    i guessed and selected:
    33 spline (spoon only)
    tampered roller bearings?
    idk about stud type?
brake kits i selected wilwood w/internal parking brake
    4 channel ABS 47 tooth
back brace, fill & drain plug
i have no idea about SPECIAL AXLE FEATURE OPTIONS?
or the ADJUSTABLE LOWER CONTROL ARM BRACKETS?
    or SWAY BAR MOUNTS

I would personally do a lot more research and read about this stuff before purchasing a rear end. You do not want to go into this completely blind. You are going to be investing a lot of money. Know and understand what it is you want, and why you want it.

Not trying to sound like a dick either

    With that said...

You can only go so high with the spline count on the axle if you plan on staying with something like a Truetrac. The higher count splines are locker only options through Moser. The options may be different on the Wavetrac.

Spline count is the number of teeth that are cut into the axle. The higher the number of teeth, the stronger the axle is and the more torque it can handle.

If you want to keep ABS (optional), then you have to get the 4 channel.

You do not need a back brace.

You want the fill and drain plug. Without a drain plug, it's not easy changing out the gear oil!

Get the lower control arm brackets welded onto the axle housings of the unit. These will help with traction as it lowers your instant center.

You can get the sway bar mounts if you want to or not. With the pumpkin being much larger than a 10-bolt, the sway bar "barely" clears. The optional mounts add more clearance.

Lastly, you need to choose your gearing you want.

You can get a 35 spline if you go Wavetrac.

    PINION SEAL
I had a casting defect in the seal area of the pinion shaft.
To fix that you use a product by Redi-Sleeve. Good news was my Strange does not use a crush sleeve to set the pinion bearing tension. You can pull it out and put it back without messing up the pattern. Don't get the shims mixed up (and they can fall into the rear without you noticing -slide your hand all around in the bottom before reassembly to make sure you didn't miss any). Just have to torque it to 12 gazillion lb's, which under the car turned out to be a bitch! Take the pinion to the bearing house and let the counterman select the right one -those guys are usually well trained. Don't waste you time on auto parts stores, they can only order the wrong one for you from the place you'll eventually go to get the right one.

Details " PRG200 Fully assembled 12-bolt rear end (less brakes). The fully assembled rear end features 3.150 ID housing ends, 33-spline S/S axles [does not have the upgraded axles], 1/2 or M12 X 1.5 studs, 33-spline SUPER STRENGTH posi-unit, U1602 S-Series yoke (1350), crossover u-joint, u-bolts, chrome cover, standard gear set and Lucas oil (pkg.)... $2,479 (with 3:91-1 gear)"

Be sure you have the ABS rings and correct backing plates installed before delivery!

Keep your end goals in mind when choosing your gear ratio.

If you are going FI, you want a higher gear (possibly 3.42 or 3.73 max for a M6). If you are getting a cam/heads, you may want something lower, say a 4.11 or even a 4.56 depending on what set-up you go with.

Read about it all...and as you know, never be afraid to ask something. No question is stupid

idk. sometimes i get made a fool on here. but its bound to happen anywhere i guess lol

but im thinking more towards a boosted LS1 but then again...im also considering a 402 or a 408 stroker...i mean i wont be doing an engine swap until i get out of college...unless i get a sweet intern job or blow this one haha
but all options are in consideration. idk which path to really go down
