ONYX BLACK- 2000 Camaro SS
4.10s woke the SS UP:) BUTT leaks..:(
I had a set of Motive 4.10s professionally installed by a Speed Shop that came highly recomended.
What a difference.........awesome!!!!!!!!! The best $ spent for sure.
BUTTTTTTT the pinion seal leaks. The speedshop has replaced the seal 3 times with no success. Still leaked. It is bad enough that it it drips on my garage floor and gear oil is all over the rear and on the exhaust, so it smelled from burning off.
The last time they had it they installed a pressure relief valve, apparently something not on the stock rear. It has helped, it just barely is seeping now. Still not perfect.
Any body have any ideas??? Its a simple seal...........
Thanks and have fun.
I love the smell of burning rice.

Thanks for the replies guys.
The stock setup did not leak at all.
I am using Synthetic oil.
The Shop owner and I were talking again this morning and the only thing he could come up with is that there is a groove in the yoke where the original seal was. He says as wierd as it sounds it seals will put a groove in metal>
Well, if it does not get worse, I may be ok. Might try replacing the yoke next time.........grrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
Have funnnnnnnn

I figured they would of checked the yoke the second time replacing the seal that is the only reason I didn't tell you that.
Yes that is a common problem.
The synthetics seep pass the seals easier also.Don't be afraid of the bottle!!! Be afraid of your tune!!!

Are you using a GM seal or one that came in a Motive install kit? Mine leaked with an aftermarket seal, used one from the dealer and no problem then.
