4.10's and a Tune
I got 4.10's installed in my car (M6) and had the guy put a tune on it at the same time. Definitely worth the $$ ($350), can't tell which made the biggest difference..........but Damn!!!! Pulls a whole lot stronger, I can definitely feel it.

Red; 58,000 org. miles- 1999 Camaro Z28, M6....
so if I have stock gears (99'z, M6), and its a daily driver, do I go with 3:73s, or 4.10s? I never have the time to take it to the track so...just an addiction of mine!! and do I need a tune afterward? thanks....I don't know much at all obviously...............

for a manual car, most go with 4.10. you will need the PCM reprogrammed to correct the speedo. you do not have to have an engine tune, but hey while you are there.

Make sure you guys do some research in advance of getting 4.10s. 10 bolt + 4.10 hard launches on a M6 tranny can be a costly decision. Stock 10 bolts are weak enough as is, the 4.10s don't help any in that category. They will help you rip through that powerband quicker though

I've had 4.10's in my M6 for quite a while and they are the perfect gear for a street/strip car w/out nitrous or power adders. Just make sure you get a *GOOD* installer. The dealer did my swap (warranty) and he set them up all wrong. Motive 4.11 gears. They worked, but he set backlash at .004 and they howled. They didn't whine, they frikkin' howled.
I'm installing AAM 4.10 this weekend with a quality install guy.

Gears are always my first mod to a stock car. Makes a huge difference. 4.10's are the minimum for me.
Have fun, enjoy your car

My brother has 4.10's in his lightly modded 98m6. The car is definatly fast and fun to drive but shifting from 1st to 4th in a matter of seconds during daily driving can get old. I'd like to drive a 3.73 car sometime to see if it's similiar or not.
