i got 373's on my m6 and i noticed a difference at first then got used to it. seems like its that way for everything, its never fast enough. the rearend shop did tell me if i got 4:10's that i would be back getting 373's pretty soon, said the stock 10 bolt is to small for the 4:10's something about the metal doesnt have enough time to cool down.

Don't a lot of people do 4.10's in the stock rear? Although a friend of mine did go through 3 rear ends w/ 4.10's...hmmm...

Unless you bought the car used and the previous owner swapped em no it's not possible. All six speeds got 3:42s.

If your rear is heating up that bad, then you have more problems than 4.10 gears.

Different ratios don't have anything to do with temperatures in the diff

Thanks for the info on the 2.73 gears INMY01TA.You are correct it does have 3.42 gears. New problem now.I went to order 4.01 gears, and they said I needed an SLP paddle kit if I have a Torsen posi. This kit costs $175.00. I went to SLP webbsite and found the kit,but the explanation was vague. Ive done gears before, but not on anything this new.I would like to know what this thing does before I order anything.

That will help but not completely necesary. We just used a bench grinder to grind it down a lil to where it would fit in. Lots of others posted up and said they did the same thing.

so i coulda got 4:10's THATS F**KED up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i went to this diff. shop trying to get 4:10's, the guy that owns the shop said that if i got 4:10's that they would burn up so i bought 3:73's instead. his ass probably got a better deal on the 4:10's than the 3:73's. well lessoned learned, im doing anything till i check with everyone on here.
