i went with 4.10s but have yet to have them installed, at 60mph in 6th gear im at about 1450 rpms with 3.42 gears so 4.10/3.42 X 1450rpms is roughly 1740 rpms at 60 so i dont think gas mileage will suffer too badly at highway speeds. Thats why i decided to go with 4.10s

I mainly plan on driving city and mainly highway. I drive my car only a month or two out of the year so fuel economy is not that big of deal. I do want to start trying to go to the track every now and then but my main concern is with the 4.10s how's my traction going to be. I like going fast but how often am i going to be going 150+. However just the other day i got into it with an 03 vette and both of us were going about 155. again i dont see that happenin very often.

I have a 99 M6 and thinking about the same thing. I'm leaning towards 4.10s because 3.73s are not that much of a jump from 3.42s. Traction is always an issue but can be controlled with your right foot.

I have 4.10's in my T/A with an M6, and I definitely like them.
Check out this website to calculate your gear ratios, its very useful:

Navy Blue Metallic- '99 T/A WS6 M6
I have a 373 gear in my 10 bolt Detroit TRU-TRAC and am happy...sometimes I think maybe I should have gone 410----but when I had this installed--they had 410...and it was PUNY...felt safer with 373 until I get a real rear.......

Navy Blue Metallic- 2000 Camaro SS
I have a 2000 SS with an M6 and i LOVE them, kind of noisy at highway speeds but i still get 27 mpg on the freeway at 75 mph i sit at 2000 rpms used to be 90mph at 2000 rpms. But it's very respectible around town and is smooth on the e-way. Come off the line like somebody kicked ya in the shorts for sure.

It's not as bad as you may think. It is deffinetly shorter from 1st to 2nd but not instanly having to shift

You mean how long are you in 1st gear before you shift to 2nd gear??
Depends how much power you have, with my bolt ons (Lid, Catback, LT's, ORY, LS6 Intake, free mods) its only a matter of seconds. Its not like you can't keep up with shifting though, keep your eye on the tach and you can click off shifts with dead accuracy at ~6000RPM.
As far as speed goes, with my 4.10's and 17" tires, 1st gear tops out at 43MPH and 2nd gear tops out at 64MPH, thats figuring on shifting at 6,000RPM.

There are a few downsides to 4.10s. Some cars tend to break the rear ends with them, also some guys find it harder to get traction off the line, expecially if you have some mods. Sticky tires help, but then the rear end issues can come back into play. Good luck

4.10's! I just installed mine. Even though I'm an auto holy hell that thing pulls like a freight train now especially with my 3500 stall. As a rule of thumb most M6 cars generally go with the 4.10s. Better learn how to feather the clutch though.

I have an auto, if I got 3.73s how much of a difference would my 0-60 be? and how many RPMs would my car be at going 75 MPH?

Just put in your tire size and select your year/transmission. Input 3.73's for the axle ratio, and it come up with a nice chart for you
